Trump to Move U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem

In a controversial nomination of David M. Friedman as ambassador to Israel, Donald Trump’s policies towards Israel and the Palestinians is becoming more clear. Friedman has commented on his desire to work hard in bridging gaps and increasing relations with the U.S. and Israel, especially with a new embassy in Jerusalem. This is a clear sign to Trumps desire to overturn much of the work done my President Obama. A move of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is weighted heavily in religious and political controversy, and many Palestinians have yet to accept Jerusalem’s s status after the 1967 war.

In addition to the movement of the U.S. embassy, in an interview last summer in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Friedman expressed Trumps support in the Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank. Clearly, a two-state solution will not be on the Trump agenda.
